Nantucket New School
Parents
The Nantucket New School was founded in 1985 by a group of visionary parents who sought an alternative, independent education for their children on the island of Nantucket. From its inception as a parent cooperative, the School placed a high value on its relationship with parents.

A strong partnership between teachers and parents is still a defining characteristic of NNS, and it is central to the supportive and familial atmosphere within the walls of the School. We encourage parents to communicate frequently and freely with the faculty and administration about all issues related to their children and to the life of the School.

All parents are members and are encouraged to participate in our parent association, Parents of Nantucket New School. They may volunteer in a number of different capacities including classroom and program support, event planning, and parent education.
