Building Futures Capital Campaign
The Nantucket New School is currently in the third and final phase of the Building Futures Capital Campaign. The goal of $1.1 million will leave the school free of our remaining construction debt and with the beginnings of an endowment fund.
The first two phases of the Capital Campaign were successfully completed in 2005. With the generosity of the Weezie Foundation, the Nantucket Golf Club Foundation, other private foundations, and countless individuals, NNS raised $3.2 million and built the NNS campus at 15 Nobadeer Farm Road. The Louise F. Walker Building, the Fraker House, the expansive playing field and playground are stunning reminders of the Nantucket community’s support of our mission and philosophy.
In December of 2005, the Weezie Foundation once again chose to support the Nantucket New School by giving a one-for-two matching challenge grant of $250,000 payable over three years. The School, therefore, needs to raise $500,000 in order to receive the full grant.
Parents and board members Rachel Hobart and Criss Troast are co-chairing the final phase of the campaign. Board member Jord Poster has agreed to be the honorary chair of the Campaign. Having recently received 100% participation from the board of directors, the Campaign committee will soon solicit the wider NNS and island communities for their support of the Building Futures goals.
If you have questions about any of the fund raising projects, please call Gage Dobbins, Assistant Head for Development and Communications, at the Nantucket New School, 508-680-1022 or email at {gdobbins@nantucketnewschool.org}.
