Head of School Selection Process

Good afternoon Nantucket New School and Strong Wings Friends, 
 
Next week, we will welcome our first of three Head of School/Executive Director of NPC finalists. As of now, each candidate will join our community for two days, during which time they will meet with faculty, friends, and caregivers and several sub-committees set up by the search committee. All members of the community are encouraged to meet and get to know each candidate during their visit.  
 
Candidate #1: 
 
Tuesday, October 3rd 
7:30 am- Morning arrival greeting with Danielle at NNS 
9:45 am- Morning Meeting 
5:00 pm- NNS/SW Caregivers and Friends meeting at NNS 
 
Wednesday, October 4th 
7:30 am- Morning arrival greeting with Danielle at Strong Wings 
8:15 am- Caregivers and Friends coffee with the Candidate at NNS 
9:45 am- Morning Meeting 
 
The Monday before each visit, you will receive an email with a bio for that finalist. With respect to their current jobs and communities, as part of the process, this information will not be given until the day before the candidate arrives. There will also be a book in the office containing more in-depth details on each person, including a resume, personal statement, and writing samples. 
 
That Monday email will also contain a schedule confirmation for each visit and a survey link that will be live until 10:00 p.m. the day following the candidate’s departure. 
 
As of now, a similar schedule will follow for Candidates #2 and #3. Those visits will be on  October 12 & 13 and 19 & 20 respectively.

    • Danielle Beale

Danielle Henry Beale is the Assistant Head of School for Advancement and will serve as Interim Head of School in 2023-2024. She moved to Nantucket from Nevis, West Indies, and has been working in education and non-profits for 16 years, most recently as a marketing contractor for AISNE, the Association of Independent Schools in New England.  She is currently pursuing a doctorate in education at The University of New England. She attended Northfield Mount Hermon School, and has a bachelor's in journalism from UMass Amherst and a master's in corporate communication from CUNY Baruch College. She enjoys hiking with her husband, Garison, and two sons, Parker and Pierson, who attend Nantucket New School.
