Admissions

Admissions Process

Application

A written application, including the parent statements, teacher reference form, school transcript (if appropriate), and other relevant material is due with the application fee. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Decision

Families who submit completed applications prior to February 1st will be notified of admission before March 1st. Applications submitted after February 1st will be processed on a rolling basis; generally speaking, families will receive notification within 30 days.

The criteria for selecting students for admission include the following: academic history suggesting ability level, motivation, curiosity, and creativity consistent with the school’s mission and program; demonstrated good citizenship and ability to work and play cooperatively with peers; alignment of the school’s mission and philosophy and parents’/guardians’ objectives and expectations. While an effort is made, whenever possible, to accommodate siblings of currently enrolled students, we do not give preferential treatment to any particular group or category of applicants.
Nantucket New School admits students of any race, religion, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the School. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid policies, and other school-admininistered programs.
