From Todd:

Full Circle
The last event held at the school before we shut down on March 13, 2020 was the Upper School STEM-X. This is a science, technology, and engineering project based unit that typically involves a public audience. Last year, it was a bit surreal at the time. We had canceled the outside judges because of safety concerns, and as I recall, a handful of parents did come through before we sent everyone home. The completed projects stayed in the lunchroom for months of remote learning, and when I walked through the abandoned presentations and experiments, I was consistently reminded of what we were missing as a community. All of this history made today’s celebration at morning meeting all the more special. We have truly come full circle, and although the STEM-X event looked a bit different, we maintained a tradition in a meaningful way in spite of the situation. It will be the same again some day. Next year at some point, we will be back to filling the Great Hall for morning meetings. We will be hosting the family picnic again. We will reunite our big friends and little friends in person. There are still hurdles to resolve but I have allowed myself to think about the traditions and moments that we have missed and reflect on how to safely bring them back. I know you all feel the same way as I do- I just can’t wait for those days to return.

Long Weekend Travel
As I opened car doors at drop-off this morning, it was easy to see that this community is ready for the long weekend. We are closed Monday and Tuesday next week, and we look forward to being open on Wednesday 4/21 depending on our weekly test results. Have a great weekend and safe travels. We continue to follow the Massachusetts travel guidance. The guidelines have been loosened from an “order” to an “advisory.” Please review them here if you are interested.

Strategic Planning Survey
If you have not completed the Strategic Planning Survey please click here.  We will be closing the process on 4/21. Thanks for your help as we look to create the best possible experiences for our students.

Thank You
Thanks for all your birthday wishes. I feel young for a 40 year old. Sure I do!!

Have a great long weekend!!
