What a way to spend a beautiful Friday! Claire, Anne, Mark, and I were at drop-off today ooh-ing and ahh-ing at all of the team spirit… tutus, face paint, and even a lion costume. It’s Claire’s favorite drop-off duty of the year, and I can see why!
There were certainly some students who got out of their cars and were not as enthusiastic, and I hear you. Field day is not for everyone! We made sure they had the opportunity to take a break from the music and fanfare and have a quiet space to recharge their batteries. I was so proud that every student participated and found some fun doing something out of their comfort zone.
The day was filled with sweet moments. We had our oldest students taking charge of our youngest students, we had friends comforting friends through injury, and as our purple puppies team lagged quite behind the rest of the teams in the three-legged race, the whole school started chanting for them. In those moments, the teachers usually exchange looks, to say "How lucky are we?"
Back to School Night
Parents turned up in full force for our Annual Meeting and Back to School Night! We voted in three new Board members: Shantaw Bloise-Murphy, John Brescher, and Will Lucas. Join me in thanking them for their service!
Our teachers reported that they had a very engaged group of parents visit their classrooms, prepared with questions. Remember that our doors are always open and that our partnership with you relies on constant communication, both ways. Stay in touch!
