News & Updates 5/16/25

From Amy:

Happy Friday! We are racing to the finish line, as the end of the academic year feels within our grasp. We are wrapping up projects and completing tasks we set out to accomplish. Yesterday, I walked with the 8th graders on the last leg of their cross-island trek, traveling the final three miles on the LandBank path.  It was fun to spend time with this group of amazing kids - they are an impressive and lovely group.

This time of year is always a bit bittersweet. We are eager for the more relaxing summer days and look forward to welcoming the Strong Wings crew to campus. At the same time, we’re sad to say goodbye to classmates and teachers, even if only for a few months. Transitions can bring bigger feelings and families may see more emotions at home. Celebrating endings isn’t easy, in fact some dread it. Watch for your own child’s feelings and let us know if we can be helpful in setting up students for success, as they navigate a normal, yet possibly hard, transition.

We were delighted to host alumni today, with high school students who graduated from New School joining our Morning Meeting and sharing their memories of days on campus. It was fun to hear them reminisce about their learning experiences here, including things that seemed very hard when they were New School students, but now look back upon fondly. Thanks to the alums who visited us this morning!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Warmly,
