News & Updates 5/30/25

From Amy:

What a week!  I started the week in Washington, DC, joining the 8th graders on their grand adventure in the capital city.  On Wednesday morning, we had an amazing private tour of the National Portrait Gallery, seeing two specific shows including the work of interned Japanese artists and exploring the shape of power. I loved walking the galleries with the 8th graders, playing a game I like to play: we choose one picture that we wish we could take home with us. So many great choices!

And then I was back on-island on Thursday, readying our own gallery with our Grade 4 Nantucket Museum. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the fourth graders - if you have a moment on Monday morning, come on over to the Nantucket Museum in Fraker House.  We’ll be open from 8:30 - 11:15, with lots to share about this amazing island. Here’s a little peek into how we will travel to the Museum on Monday!

We’re rapidly approaching the end of the school year. We’ll have our last academic day on Tuesday, and finish with Field Day on Wednesday. Please plan to join in a family cookout on Wednesday early evening, from 4:00-6:00 pm. We’ll cookout, share in some tasty salads, and launch into summer together.

With much gratitude for a wonderful year at New School,
