This week’s news celebrates a remarkable achievement! On Monday morning, our own Danielle Beale successfully defended her dissertation—earning the title Dr. Danielle Beale!
I had the privilege of joining her dissertation defense via Zoom, in front of her dissertation chair and second reader, and was deeply impressed by both her poise and the critical focus of her research. Danielle’s work explored how women applicants experience the process of applying to Headships in large independent schools. This topic reflects not only her intellectual curiosity but also her deep commitment to leadership, equity, and education.
Her accomplishment made its way into our Morning Meeting this week when her son, Pierson (Grade 3), proudly announced that his mom had just become a doctor! The room buzzed with excitement—one curious student even asked, “A dentist or a real doctor?” It was the perfect Nantucket New School moment—full of humor, pride, and genuine community spirit. And I confirm that Danielle is a real Doctor of Education.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Beale on this remarkable achievement. Her success brings pride to our entire NNS family! Hooray, Danielle!!
