Third Grade Recycling
Thank to third grade for presenting this week! Did you know that by recycling your old cell phones you could help save gorillas in the wild? Cell phones and other small electronics contain a mineral called coltan, which is being mined all over the world, including from areas in Africa that gorillas call home. When we recycle our small electronic devices, we reduce the demand for coltan and the destruction of gorilla habitat. Please join the third graders in collecting the following electronics to help protect the gorilla's habitats!
  • Cell phones
  • Smart phones
  • iPads
  • iPod
  • Tablets
  • Apple watches
  • Adapters
  • Chargers/cords
  • MP3 players
  • Handheld gaming systems and their accessories
Large electronic devices such as desktop computers, monitors, laptops, game consoles, televisions, and calculators are NOT accepted for the campaign.

The donation box is located under the bulletin board at the front of the school. Donations will be collected until the box is FULL!!

Raising money for financial aid and programming has never been so quackin’ important!

Here's how it works: Students, families, and friends adopt rubber ducky racers. We race them and you join us at The Creeks to root for your ducks. The three most nimble ducks win awesome prizes! The students who sell the most duckies win awesome prizes too! The school wins your crucial support! EVERYONE WINS!

We are certain we can top last year’s success by counting on all of you to sell ducks and help promote rubber ducky adoptions with friends and family off-island. Our goal is to get 100% participation from our students.

Join us at The Creeks on May 18th at 11 a.m. to see if your rubber ducky makes it across the finish line first! Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions, please contact Kate Olson at: kolson@nantucketnewschool.org or 508-228-8569 ext. 302.
